The supposed rivalry between the world’s top two women gymnasts went viral this week, as Simone Biles and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade went head to head in the Paris Olympics.

But are they really rivals?

This Thursday, the face-off gained another chapter as Biles and Andrade took the top two spots in the individual all-around Olympic final. The U.S. athlete grabbed another gold, with Andrade a close second — making her the most successful women Olympian in Brazil’s history.

But contrary to what social media might want to believe, Biles and Andrade are no enemies. In fact, they made their Olympic debuts together in Rio 2016 and have been fans of one another ever since.

Biles is on the record as saying she loves competing against Andrade, as the Brazilian pushes her to do better. Indeed, the Paris Olympics camera crews have been sure to capture plenty of special moments between the two in-between apparatuses.

After all, that’s what Olympic sport is all about. We’re lucky to be along for the show.
