Can Brazil’s biofuel credentials propel sustainable aviation fuels?

At the very end of 2025, Brazil’s Ports and Airports Ministry and National Development Bank (BNDES) signed a deal to offer BRL 4 billion (USD 735 million)  in subsidized loans for airlines. To qualify for funding, carriers must commit to acquiring enough Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to lower their greenhouse gas emissions beyond the 10% national target for the sector.
