Big Center wants new electoral rules after losing ground to the far right

House Speaker Hugo Motta announced this week that Congress will try to approve a constitutional amendment this year that would change how Brazilians elect their congressmen. The plan swaps the open-list proportional system for a mixed-member district model, phased in between 2030 and 2034.
