Brazil’s Supreme Court resumes today the landmark trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro and his military allies, accused of orchestrating an attempted coup to overturn his 2022 election defeat.

To keep proceedings on schedule and reach a decision by Friday, September 12, the court has added an extra session at the request of the rapporteur, Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The move suggests he does not expect Justice Luiz Fux — seen as the most likely to dissent — to stall the process with a request for more time. Sessions will now run daily through the week, all broadcast live.
