Brazil’s thriving agribusiness sector is anchored in the country’s central region, where sprawling farmland and livestock operations dominate the landscape. Yet a significant portion of that territory is up for grabs, with some towns seeing nearly half their land listed for sale.

Data by ChaozĂŁo, a rural real estate platform, reveals two states with particularly large parcels of land advertised on the site, which hosts listings for more than 6,000 properties.

Mato Grosso, Brazil’s agricultural powerhouse, leads the way with at least 5.6 million hectares — about 6% of its territory — up for sale. Tocantins, a smaller northern state bordering Mato Grosso, has an even greater share of its land on the market: 2.4 million hectares, or nearly 9% of its area.
