The far-right Liberal Party (PL) gathers its sitting lawmakers today to take stock of Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential candidacy — one that seemed to have a good chance of winning just a couple of weeks ago but now seems to be in disarray.
Flávio and the PL will walk into the room amid the worst polling moment of his campaign since he was anointed by his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, as the standard bearer of the far right. Last Wednesday, leaked audio messages revealed Flávio asking Daniel Vorcaro, the former CEO of Banco Master, for money.
Vorcaro wired at least USD 10.6 million. The Bolsonaro family claims the money went toward paying for “Dark Horse,” an upcoming Jair Bolsonaro biopic. The Federal Police are now examining whether the money was diverted to other ends — including to pay for Eduardo Bolsonaro's life in the US (where the former congressman has lived for a year, lobbying for sanctions against the Brazilian government).
