When Alberto Fujimori died in 2024, The Brazilian Report warned that Peru’s former president-turned-dictator was gone, but his political movement was not.
That warning was borne out this Sunday, when his daughter and political heir Keiko qualified for her fourth consecutive presidential runoff, set for June 7. With only 76% of ballots counted so far, Fujimori is the only candidate assured a spot in the second round, capturing 16.9% of the vote.
