Lula's party asks the Supreme Court to probe US meddling in Brazil's election

Brazil's Workers' Party (PT) asked the Supreme Court to order a Federal Police investigation into whether US pressure, money, and digital operations are tilting October's presidential election toward Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the Liberal Party's far-right candidate.

The petition went to Justice Flávio Dino, whom President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appointed in 2023. PT lawyers claim that only the Supreme Court can handle the criminal side of foreign interference. They filed it within a case Dino already oversees, in which he ruled in August 2025 that unilateral acts by foreign states have no force in Brazil unless local courts admit them.
