Data protection regulator sets eyes on Meta

Brazil’s National Data Protection Agency (ANPD) has placed Meta under unusually strict scrutiny, ordering the company to demonstrate that WhatsApp’s data-sharing practices comply with the country’s privacy regulations and do not improperly feed information to its broader family of apps. The move comes as the company faces fresh allegations abroad over how it safeguards the information of billions of people.
