Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 5.3% in the three months through August, the lowest reading for that period since the statistics agency IBGE began its current series in 2012. On the same Tuesday, the Central Bank reported that loan defaults reached 5% in August, the highest level in a series that dates back to March 2011.
