Two polls released since Friday confirm the negative impact of the financial entanglement between Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and Daniel Vorcaro, the former owner of Banco Master and lynchpin of Brazil's biggest current scandal. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is indeed pulling clear ahead, but both polls give Flávio's candidacy an extended shelf life.
Pollsters Datafolha (Friday) and Nexus (today) showed Lula leading in a simulated runoff, with a 47-43 lead. In April, Nexus had Lula up by just 1 point. Datafolha, meanwhile, had both frontrunners tied at 45% on May 16.
