💥 Trump v. Brazil’s Supreme Court
A legal move that hints at close ties between Trumpism and Bolsonarism. What weighs against Bolsonaro. And why prosecutors were so soft on the military
Good morning! Brazil's right-wing opposition filed a request to set up a Senate inquiry to investigate mismanagement at Brazil’s state-owned postal service Correios. It calls for a probe into financial irregularities, political interference, operational issues and poor governance of the company’s pension fund. Senate President Davi Alcolumbre will decide whether to move ahead with the inquiry.

US President Donald Trump’s media company and the video platform Rumble filed a complaint on Wednesday against Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has led multiple criminal investigations closing in on Brazil’s hard-right former leader Jair Bolsonaro — which turned the judge into a lightning rod for far-right vitriol.
Driving the news. The lawsuit, filed in a Florida federal court, accuses Justice Moraes of violating US sovereignty and free speech protections by ordering the removal of a far-right account from social media platform Rumble and demanding private user data.
The Trump Media & Technology Group — which owns fellow platform Truth Social — and Rumble, investors in which include a venture capital firm tied to US Vice President JD Vance, argue that Moraes’s actions amount to censorship and judicial overreach.
Rumble, which is popular among far-right users, resumed operations in Brazil in February after blocking access in the country for over a year. At the time, its chief executive, Chris Pavlovski, said the company had suspended services in response to court orders requiring it to take down accounts linked to anti-democratic activity.
