🦜 A new bird species

Brazilian ornithologists have described a new bird species from the mountains of Ceará, in the country's Northeast, without catching a single bird. 

The Baturité Antthrush (Chamaeza baturitensis), a forest-floor species carved out of the Short-tailed Antthrush (Chamaeza campanisona), was formally named in August in the journal Zoologia by Lucas Romero, Enrico Breviglieri, and Vagner Cavarzere of São Paulo State University (Unesp). Their evidence came from 183 audio recordings, 134 museum specimens, and a deep neural network built to recognize birdsong…
