Nayib Bukele has never hidden his ambitions, and now they are official. The Salvadoran president has registered his pre-candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
The news came from Bukele's cousin Xavi Zablah Bukele, secretary general of the president's New Ideas party. "We are ready," he wrote. Vice President Félix Ulloa registered alongside him. Both will contest a July 12 primary in which, tidily, no one else is expected to run.
