Chinese investments in Brazil surge, but remain below peak years

Chinese companies poured USD 4.18 billion into new and existing projects in Brazil last year, a 113% jump from 2023, according to a new report by the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC).

The surge far outpaced Brazil’s overall foreign direct investment growth of 13.8% in 2024, as measured by the Central Bank. Brazil was the leading emerging economy and the third-largest recipient of Chinese investment worldwide.
