The Cerrado is the world’s most biodiverse tropical savanna, but experts say it has been “sacrificed” in order to protect the Amazon.

Deforestation alerts in Brazil’s Cerrado tropical savanna fell 21% in the 12 months through July, in what was a rare piece of positive news for the consistently threatened biome.
