Lula and Trump continue rapprochement process with call

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump held a 30-minute call on Monday, establishing a direct channel after months of escalating trade frictions and political sniping. Each side cast the conversation as friendly and focused on trade, and both leaders said they intend to meet soon, in Brazil and the US.

“This morning, I had a very good telephone call with President Lula, of Brazil. We discussed many things, but it was mostly focused on the Economy, and Trade, between our two Countries. We will be having further discussions, and will get together in the not too distant future, both in Brazil and the United States. I enjoyed the call — Our Countries will do very well together!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
