In 2025, 90.5% of residents aged 10 or older — 168.7 million people — used the internet within a three-month window, the first time the national average cleared 90%, official statistics agency IBGE reported this week. It caps a steep climb from 66% in 2016, when the survey began, and 79.4% in 2019.
