On the eve of the next United Nations Climate Conference (COP30), set for mid-November, Brazil will also host one of the world’s largest gatherings centered on livestock farming, a sector at the heart of the country’s climate debates.
From October 27 to 30, the World Meat Congress will convene industry leaders from more than 20 countries in the state of Mato Grosso, an agricultural powerhouse in Brazil’s Center-West region, under the banner of “sustainability and technological innovation.” With more than 33 million head of cattle, Mato Grosso boasts Brazil’s largest herd — in a country that is itself the world’s leading beef exporter.
Brazilian agribusiness recently celebrated a major milestone: in late May, the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) recognized the country as free from foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination, a historic achievement…
