The diplomatic standoff between Brazil and the United States has gained yet another element. Raul Jungmann, head of the Brazilian Mining Institute (Ibram), a private organization, on Thursday said the top US diplomat in the country had reaffirmed Washington’s interest in Brazil’s critical minerals during a Wednesday meeting.
According to Jungmann, a similar approach had been made three months ago. “We reiterated that negotiations are a matter for the government, not private entities like us,” he told Brazilian reporters.
