Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima lit the cauldron at the Maracanã Stadium on August 5, 2016 — officially opening the Rio 2016 Olympics. Rio marked the anniversary this week with an exhibition at the Museum of Tomorrow, two sculptures of the Games' logos and an accounting exercise from City Hall: 17 legacy projects were promised in the bid book, 30 were delivered.
