How Trump’s tariffs hit each Brazilian state

The Brazilian government is bracing for further trade retaliation from the United States after Jair Bolsonaro’s conviction for plotting a coup. In an interview with Fox News, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio promised that “additional steps” would be announced by next week.
The first full month of Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs has already taken a toll. Exports to the US fell 18.5% in August compared with a year earlier, as previously reported. The damage, however, has not been uniform: industrial hubs in the Southeast and farm states in the Center-West have been hardest hit.
