Kassio Nunes Marques, the chief justice at Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE), ordered WhatsApp on October 11 to shut down "Lula's Army," a channel with more than 3.4 million followers run by Congressman André Janones, an ally of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The request came from Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, Lula's rival (and frontrunner) in the October 25 runoff. The order did not survive the day. Justice Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva, the court's inspector general, who was already handling Flávio's complaint against the same channel, reinstated it.
