Bolsonaro keeps low profile after testing Supreme Court-imposed social media ban

The day after the Supreme Court threatened him with preventive detention, Jair Bolsonaro opted for silence.
The far-right leader, mired in legal trouble since leaving office, has been barred from running again for abusing his powers when he was president. In more serious consequences, Bolsonaro faces trial for allegedly orchestrating a coup attempt following his 2022 defeat — a charge that could carry a decades-long prison sentence.
Last Friday, the Supreme Court ordered Bolsonaro to wear an electronic ankle monitor and stay off social media — a realm crucial for Bolsonaro’s political rise — after his family claimed credit for convincing Donald Trump to slap massive 50% tariffs on Brazilian products as a way to force an amnesty for the coup plotters…
