After failing to qualify for the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) finals, finishing one place outside the top five, Brazil’s Yago Dora knew something had to change if he was going to take the next step in his career. It was then that he made the radical decision to fire his coach — standard practice for high-level athletes, but particularly delicate for Dora, considering that his long-time trainer was his own father.
